The fusion is both cheerful and aesthetic as the exposed brick wall on the lower level becomes the focal point of the interior. Designed by TALLER 1+1 minimalism clean contemporary design and plenty of textural contrast delight you at this Mexican home.
The small Victorian house was in need of a contemporary upgrade and this came in the form of a breezy rear addition that now contains the new kitchen dining area storage space and bathroom. Relying on a neutral color scheme that is anchored in white and ample natural light the stylish extension flows into the small garden outside.
The new contemporary extension in timber and glass is at the heart of the project that aims to revitalize this historic structure even while preserving its original aura and creating interiors that stay true to the rustic backdrop! Set in an idyllic 60-acre valley the new building acts as a transitional zone between the original farmhouse and the converted bar.
The courtyard sits at the heart of the house and a ventilation duct on the second floor brings in light and natural breeze. While hitting the house is gently drawn into the courtyard it is the slightly curved outward roof of the south side that directs the air outside. This also helps in cooling the house naturally on less boisterous days!
It is the living-dining pavilion area that is the heart of this exquisite home with a series of water bodies and a large pool providing a refreshing backdrop. It is above this outdoor dining area that the master bedroom sits while four guest bedrooms and additional spaces are placed in a separate wing.
What truly stands out in case of the Valiant House though is the brilliant use of whitewashed brick to usher in both textural contrast and pattern even as a stunning contemporary kitchen island in black along with a dark ceiling create a sense of sophistication. The dramatic is balanced carefully with the inviting as skylights bring in ample natural light with a view of the small rear garden adding to the effervescence.
Transition between the interior and the serene landscape outside is pretty much seamless here with the interior of the guest house being inspired by yacht design. Minimal and modern décor here is kept to a bare minimum.
